Lyn Brun the new Statewide PHCRED Coordinator

 

Geraldton, WA, Tuesday 12th August, 2008 – Western Australia has another new resource for increasing Primary Health Care research. The WA Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development program has appointed Mrs Lyn Brun as the Statewide Coordinator.

 

Mrs Brun comes to Geraldton with an extensive background in education having been a teacher, lecturer and most recently financial administrator within Brenta Management. Lyn has a Bachelors Degree in Education majoring in physiology and a Masters in Education majoring in leadership studies.

 

Primary Health Research Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) is a program funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Health and Aging. PHCRED promotes and supports a collaborative research culture between universities, primary health care practitioners, consumers,  organisations and government agencies to inform, develop and improve primary health care policy, practice and service delivery.

 

The Statewide Coordination role is based out of the Combined Universities Centre for Rural Health (CUCRH) in the regional city of Geraldton. Mrs Brun will be promoting opportunities for primary health care professionals to gain experience in doing research by taking advantage of bursaries, fellowships and an annual state conference. These activities are administered by the three units in Western Australia that receive PHCRED funding; the University of Western Australia, Notre Dame University and the Combined Universities Centre for Rural Health.  

 

Mrs Brun commenced on the 4th August 2008 at CUCRH in Fitzgerald Street, Geraldton.
